Courage is central to thriving amid today’s challenges. It plays a crucial role when facing new obstacles, whether it’s taking a risk, giving an important presentation, sharing your thoughts, relocating, or dealing with job insecurity. Courage is also fundamental to growth—it shapes how we respond to difficulties, even when they create anxiety and stress. The key is learning to engage with challenges positively, transforming fear into resilience and strength.

As long as there are challenges in life, we need courage to overcome them. Courage is putting your heart and your mind on the challenge in a very thoughtful manner supported by tactics – which thankfully can be learned.

Courage is not the absence of fear but the mastery of it. True courage finds balance between recklessness and cowardice. The ancient philosophers called this virtue fortitude or courage. We will embrace ancient philosophy together with the insights from neuroscience, academia combined with inspirational case studies.

How it Works:

The workshop consists of three 90min Master sessions led by world-renowned experts covering the following topics:

The Neuroscience of Managing Fear and Anxiety: Dr. Kevin Majeres, PhD, professor of cognitive behavior at Harvard Medical School, will guide participants through the science behind fear and anxiety, offering actionable insights for managing them effectively.
The Philosophy of Courage: Dr. Craig Iffland, PhD, author and former professor and Business Honor program Director at Notre Dame, will share timeless lessons from ancient philosophers on fortitude and courage, showing how these principles remain relevant and applicable today.
Inspiring Stories of Courage: Powerful real-life stories presented by Andreas Widmer, author (The art of Principled Entrepreneurship, The Pope and the CEO), former CEO and successful business leader, professor at CUA in Washington and former Swiss guard serving under Pope John Paul II at the Vatican. These aimed at inspiring and motivating participants in their journey toward embracing courage.

These sessions will be complemented by a hands-on activity where participants develop personal action plans, ensuring they leave with practical and tangible outcomes to implement in their daily lives.

Outcome:

By the end of the three master sessions, participants will gain leadership practices that promote fundamental aspects of courage – commitment, endurance and confidence at work and in all that they do. This will help with the challenges they might be facing as well as being critical in their innovation journey.
